All our lives we have listened to stories and have told our own. Usually within these stories there are lessons to be told. Sometimes the stories even share turning points or resemble an achievement within one's life. Within my piece I want to play with the idea of stories I've learned lessons from as a child. Most of these being references to Disney Fairytales. My main focus will be the stages of an apple being eaten, eventually dropping to the floor (very Snow White based). This invokes the sequential narrative, while I'll use pieces to allude to other stories to set the scene/background.
This is my first attempt of the final project of choice. I am already pretty satisfied with it. In this piece I have decided to address the issues with horse racing. Horse Racing has been a long time entertainment sport across the world. However, there are many issues of animal abuse covered by the glamorous colors and culture. Some examples would be racing horse way before their bone development is complete, illegally drugging horses to suppress pain so they can continue to run, and so much more. I am using these concepts too collage into a portrait of Justify, a 2018 Triple Crown winner. Using the horses name as a play on words, because how can someone "justify" animal cruelty.
As explained in my last post, I am trying to make my surroundings almost like a fictional world. With this if I had to pick a word for my iteration/idea I would choose Daydream or Imagination.
I think the colors used in this piece is what brings it together the most, good work!
